This is the story I posted on my blog ( http://bulldawgvineyard.blogspot.com/) about the waterfall miracle. -Walter
I believe in miracles (The Waterfall Story)
Yesterday, my girlfriend who is a beautiful woman of God, Pamela, Josh Stroup, Leanna Jones, and I went hiking at Caeser's Head State Park in northwest South Carolina. We wanted to see Raven Cliff Falls. Here is a link to it: http://www.alleneasler.com/raven.html. It was not the most beautiful day for hiking with the forecasted high being in the 50's and rain predicted early in the day.
We were about 10 miles from the Park when we hit a dense fog. At times we could not see 30 feet in front of us. We got to the Ranger Station and went in to talk to them. The Ranger said to see the falls you have to be able to see 400 yards in front of you. The falls are in a ravine and the lookout point is on the other side of the ravine. The Ranger added on some foggy days the fog would break but on most days when it was foggy at noon, the fog tended to linger all day. We then asked where the picnic tables were. The tables were located 100 feet from the entrance to the Ranger Station and we could not see them.
We hiked the trail and were buried in a deep fog. The trail was 2.2 miles to the overlook point and the entire trip were unable to see anything. At the overlook point, we could hear the waterfall but could not see it. As we stood there, I grabbed Pamela's hand and prayed, "God, if it is your will for us to see this waterfall, please break the fog."
Some time passed as the four of us took some pictures. We tried setting the camera up on a board on the overlook and get a picture of the four of us. We had just taken a picture with Josh's camera and he was trying to set up Pamela's camera when Leanna exclaimed, "The falls!!!!!!" The fog parted to the right and to the left of the waterfalls.
As we set there, the falls got clearer and clearer. It ended up being as clear as if it were noon on a sunny day. A bank of fog hovered to the left of the falls, but the falls themselves were as clear as could be. The four of us sat and took pictures of the falls. They were gorgeous.
After about 25 minutes we decided to hike back out. We got about 100 feet from the platform and looked back. The fog was beginning to roll back. About a minute later we could only see 100 feet in front of us (picture 4). Why would God allow us to see such things? First, it is more about him and less about us. I also think God wanted to remind the four of us and each of you that he is alive and well. He answers prayers and loves his children.
