Pamela's memorial fund plans begin
The Pamela Darnell Memorial Fund plans have now been set into motion. This is what is planned for now. The fund is primarily divided into 5 parts.
1) An endowed fund to provide a $2,000 annual scholarship for a deserving Senior, to be decided by Campus Ministries and the Financial Planning office, based on the Senior's involvement in and contribution to campus ministries. (To me, this represents Pam's love for her fellow students.)
2) An endowed fund to provide $2,000 annually to be used for mission scholarships to supplement student and/or chaperons expenses on campus sanctioned mission trips. This can be divided up in any way needed. (This represents her love of missions.)
3) An annual gift to Campus Ministries to fund many of their projects and programs, such as Small Groups, on campus and in the community. (This represents her love of campus and community ministries.)
4) A campus beautification project to help with the expenses of "resurrecting" the natural boiling springs on campus. This area will be completely cleaned up and redone to allow a stream to flow from the springs to the lake with a small waterfall or two (yay!). There will be benches and swings and new plants there. (This represents the beauty of God in Pam's life... a beautiful place.)
5) Last but not least, the old fountain in Lake Hollifield will be replaced by a much taller one, and will be lit up. So her light will continue to shine in more ways than one! They are currently lowering the lake level on purpose as they do some lake dredging and cleaning up. (This splashing fountain represents Pamela's playful side!!)
We hope that each of these things can help carry Pamela's light and love and ministry in positive ways on this campus for many years to come. She will forever be loved and missed.
Love to you all,
Betty Darnell
