Pamela Darnell Memorial Fund update
I wanted to update you on where things stand with Pamela's fund. We are still in discussions as to how to best use the money, but feel strongly that Pamela would want it to be used in campus and community ministry, as well as helping with missions trips. We plan to have the vast majority of it endowed to help with these causes each year from now on. This could include service projects, missions trip scholarships, and assistance on campus or off for all the many ministries available. We are still working out the details.
For a smaller portion, we also are looking at something on campus to provide a place of peace and calm, a prayerful spot, a place as beautiful as she was inside and out. We love the idea of a small waterfall (wouldn't that be appropriate?) or fountain somewhere with cascading water, perhaps near the lake. Regardless of what we do, we want all of it to honor what Pamela stood for and believed. For her ministry to thrive and to live on, and to continue to inspire each of us.
Losing Pamela still hurts as much as if it were yesterday. I am not sure how we move forward, but we are struggling to channel this grief into something positive. It's extremely difficult to know how to do that. I still visit the cemetery daily. Needless to say, please feel free to visit there anytime. Her marker and bench should arrive in about 2 weeks. There seems to be a gentle breeze there at all times. It is comforting.
I wish I could hug each and every one of you for all the wonderful things you have said on here and in emails and cards. You will never know how much they mean to me. I read them all over and over. Thank you for loving and missing Pamela so much. I know it is painful for you all. We have all lost something priceless and irreplaceable in our lives. She blessed us all with her perfect example of God's love, humility, and encouragement. May she live on in each of us.
